Last week, the DGI Trading team were excited to host industry legend Jack McAlpin at our Kempsey facility for the annual start-up of our historical Caterpillar Two Ton tractor.
A pioneer of earthmoving and mining equipment maintenance throughout the Greater Sydney region in the 80s and 90s, Jack brought a wealth of knowledge from this era to bring our circa-1925 model Caterpillar Two Ton to life.
Popular within the U.S.A. and distributed in the U.K., the Caterpillar Two Ton is a development of the earlier Holt T35, given a name change in 1925 to the Caterpillar brand.
With its four cylinder 4” x 5” motor running at 1000 r.p.m. this was the last tractor to feature cast iron tracks – with the rail and the shoe being cast in one piece.
DGI Trading is proud to maintain this piece of earthmoving history for future generations to enjoy.
