Founded by David Griffin in 2008, the DGI team take pride in building and maintaining relationships in the farthest reaches of the globe, understanding the importance of the individual in delivering global-scale mining and construction projects.

Executive Team

David Griffin - Founder and Managing Director

David is a global procurement specialist with excess of 35 years’ experience in the mining and construction machinery industry.

Prior to establishing DGI Trading in 2008, David was the Procurement and Sales Manager of a publicly listed company, amassing extensive travel and relationships within the global Caterpillar network.

David’s broad worldwide contact base is integral in being able to source uncommon parts, also leveraging his speciality in purchasing current model Cat equipment and components.

Chris Chappell – General Manager - Operations

Heading up DGI operations and sales teams, Chris is highly skilled in corporate management roles, having previously led the WesTrac Caterpillar executive leadership team as General Manager Construction, Transport and Infrastructure.

With 25 years’ experience, Chris began his career as an apprentice within the NSW Caterpillar network and collectively holds management roles in parts, service and sales, possessing a dual trade in electronics and plant.

Chris is highly experienced in sales analytics having previously led >$350m business units to profitability and is passionate about team building and people leadership.

Scott Charlton – General Manager - Commercial

As General Manager of DGI’s Commercial function, Scott is highly experienced in financial and operational corporate management.

Prior to joining DGI, Scott managed one of Australia`s leading regional commercial vehicle dealerships for over a decade.

Scott is a qualified parts interpreter and holds a diploma of financial services, both of which provide industry-specific oversight into his leadership role within DGI.

Ben Woods – Global Sales & Acquisitions Manager

Ben is DGI’s Global Sales and Acquisitions Manager who has solidified his name in the industry by travelling extensively around the world gaining contacts in both purchasing and sales.

With excess of 10 years’ experience specialising in heavy equipment and parts, Ben has worked previously for some of the largest publicly listed and private companies in the mining and construction industry.

Beginning his career as a qualified fitter before transposing this knowledge to purchasing and sales, Ben has extensive product and industry experience at all levels.

Business Development

Tim Boyd - Business Development Manager – QLD, NZ & PNG

With more than 25 years’ experience in the mining, construction, agricultural and marine industries, Tim has travelled extensively throughout Australasia, The Americas and Middle East specialising in the heavy equipment market.

Qualified in business management, Tim’s career has spanned Sales and Marketing roles, supporting rental fleets and servicing the general mining/contracting industries.

15 years of Tim’s industry experience has been gained with one of the world’s largest heavy equipment parts suppliers, managing sales and purchasing, along with the management of major accounts, giving Tim a thorough understanding of the heavy equipment market.

Luke McNamara – Business Development Manager – NSW, North America / Canada

With a background in commercial construction and project management, Luke has in excess of 10 years’ experience working on major national developments on both the western and eastern seaboard of Australia.

Joining DGI in 2017, Luke has quickly forged a name for himself in the Australian and US / Canadian markets as a dedicated Business Development Manager, providing service solutions to the mining and construction sector.

Building on product knowledge gained in previous coordination roles, Luke is passionate about growing relationships within the industry to find alternative solutions for our client’s projects.

Jamie Barnett – Business Development Manager - Australia

Jamie is experienced in the co-ordination of complex logistics and has a comprehensive overview of DGI’s product supply chain.

Specialising in cab refurbishment and cylinder rebuilding, Jamie has oversight of our national parts ordering and sales departments nationally.

Beginning his career as a qualified diesel mechanic with extensive experience operating dozers, loaders and tractors, Jamie can easily relate to your parts and machinery needs.

Ben Allan – Business Development Manager – WA / South America

With more than 20 years’ experience as a qualified diesel mechanic, Ben has built his career specialising in commercial trucks, mobile mining machinery, crushers and marine.

Beginning his mechanical apprenticeship at a commercial vehicle dealership, Ben also has sound experience in service management roles where product knowledge and customer focus have been an integral coupling.

In his various roles within DGI, Ben has travelled and worked in the USA and various locations within Australia inspecting and reporting on machines for procurement. Having also worked in nationally spanning mining roles, Ben specialises in understanding how machinery is being used and providing diagnostics solutions.

Product Coordination

Jason Mitchell - Warehouse & Logistics Manager

Jason has almost 20 years’ experience in the mining, construction and transport industry and specialises in the provision of streamlined solutions for complex global logistics operations.

With extensive experience in mining related cranage, shutdowns & onsite construction, Jason holds broad knowledge and experience in transport, logistics and workshop management to support DGI’s complex logistic service offering.

Having previously worked for one of Australia’s leading steel fabrication & mining construction companies, Jason is a qualified boilermaker and has vast industry knowledge.

Gerard Dillon – Workshop Manager

Managing all workshop activity for DGI, Gerard has more than 10 years industry experience in the coordination of open cut mining operations and workshop supervision.

Gerard has been the recipient of various industry awards, notably mining skills, people leadership and mechanical technology programs.

Having previously coordinated mining sites and shift resourcing, Gerard is both a qualified plant mechanic and auto electrician.

Passionate about supplying quality, reliable products to the industry, Gerard’s strong organisational work ethic and broad product knowledge is integral for the success of DGI’s workshop operations.
